Green Apprenticeships

The Green Building Institute, in collaboration with Edubytes, has created on-line apprenticeship trade courses with a focus on sustainability.

Every apprenticeship features lessons on how to identify and use the latest sustainable materials; how to cut waste, how to comply with energy efficiency design best practice, how to install products for zero-carbon buildings, and promote sustainable work practices on any construction site.

Now employers can train their staff to comply with sustainability requirements and apprentices can learn their trade without having to attend colleges. Using the GBI e-learning system, apprentices can learn at home, and on the job-site, saving thousands in travel time and costs associated with attending colleges.

There are over 2000 video lessons covering hundreds of skills for building and construction, from basic safety, to sustainability, reading plans, NNC requirements, and technical skills. Completion of courses results in nationally recognised qualifications, and usually attracts government funding.

Using the GBI e-learning system is not only a great way to learn a trade, it also is the most sustainable method to conduct training and assessment.Trainers can interact with students on any construction site, anywhere in the world, using smart-phones, tablets and lap-tops. Practical training is carried out by the supervisor and trainer on a real job-site, on real jobs, using the latest sustainable products; the best way to learn!

Qualifications are issued by GBI partner Registered Training Organisations.
